Abstract

Switches, latching; contacts; switches, quickaction, with compound movement.-A switch comprises an insulating cylinder a carrying contacts l which connect diametrically opposite brushes j. The cylinder a is carried on a spindle b slidably mounted on a bracket e, of which one end c has a spring-pressed ball, a plunger f for engaging grooves g to lock the spindle in position, and the other carries a bearing h for the spindle. The brushes j are arranged on an insulating block i secured to the bracket e. With this arrangement there are two " on," and a central "off," position of the switch. If desired, the cylinder a may be moved angularly to open the switch, the rings l being interrupted at l<1> to break circuit. To lock the spindle against rotary movement, a spring r engages notches in a washer q on the spindle, as shown in Figs. 6 and 8.
