Abstract

259,337. Mitton, E. J., and Chadderton, E. July 30, 1925. Lift-valves; sliding valves; seats.-In a screw lift or a sliding valve the seating is formed in or on a frusto-conical block 17, ribs 1 and 4, inserted into the valve casing from the under side and forming therein a tight joint, the block being retained by a separate cover 15 which is recessed to engage a transverse rib 13 on the block to prevent its rotation. The valves are shown with a one-piece body with the operating nut carried in a bridge arrangement. In the casing of a lift valve, as shown in Fig. 1, the valve member is guided by upstanding fingers 7 on the seating block. In the sliding valve shown in Fig. 4 the seating block is formed at the part 29 to act as a stop abutment for projecting fingers 28 formed on the valve coupling member 27 which locate the closed position of the valve.
