Abstract

259,119. Taylor, C. W. March 19, 1926. Extrusion machines; feeding and measuring.- A machine in which rubber or like viscous material is first sheared, the sheared portion partially extruded, and the extruded part then severed, consists of a receptacle a in which is mounted a shaft c carrying a blade and slotted to receive a sliding-revolving blade f. The shaft is mounted eccentrically in a cam path h with which engage projections g on the blade f. As the blades revolve, the material is sheared by the part k of the blade f and fixed blocks n, the space between the blades j and f diminishes and the sheared material is pushed through an orifice o in the base or end, and a knife m then severs it. Fork-like projections may be provided on the blade f. A mould or measuring chamber may be filled by the apparatus.
