Measuring apparatus comprises an extruder 51 which feeds strip material to a receiver 54 and severing means 56 operative when the desired quantity of plastics material has been delivered to the receiver. The receiver 54 which may be a compression mould is eccentrically located on a spring-loaded rotating table and the cutter, e.g. a hot wire or knife is controlled by a micro-switch 59 operated by the table when it moves downwardly to a predetermined extent.
