Abstract

332,041. Ewart, R. D. June 27, 1929. Extrusion machines; stream - cutting. - A machine for extruding and slicing butter and other plastic materials is provided with a reciprocating cutter or wire which retraces a. part of its path before commencing the full idle or return stroke. The machine comprises a container 23 provided with a nozzle through which the butter &c. is extruded by a piston 27 carried by a rack bar 26, the latter being driven intermittently by a weighted pawl 49 mounted on a rocking lever 51 which is driven by a cam on a shaft 55. The cutting wire 61 is mounted in a frame which is reciprocated by a lever 63 actuated by a cam having two or more throws 67, 67<a> of differing heights the cutter being thus actuated in step by step fashion. The shaft 55 may be driven mechanically or by a crank handle 56. Specification 323,778 is referred to.
