Abstract
1305014 Guillotines WICKMAN MACHINE TOOL SALES Ltd 4 March 1970 [10 March 1969] 12429/69 Heading B4B [Also in Division E2] A guillotine comprises a movable blade 16, Fig. 2, a hollow member 20 connected to the blade, an internally toothed part 22 mounted within the member 20, a complementary peripherally toothed member 36, means for connecting the member 36 to a press to cause the member 36 to reciprocate relative to the part 20 in synchronism with the operation of the press, and means for imparting angular movement to the part 20 to cause the teeth of part 20 and member 36 to abut end to end to cause movement of the guillotine blade. As described the blade 16 is carried by a cross-head 15 urged upwards by springs 17 and the cross-head 15 is connected by posts 18 to a cross-head 19 carrying the hollow member 20 and the toothed part 22. The member 36 is reciprocated by a cam follower 28 driven by the crank-shaft of a press. Means are provided for counting the number of reciprocations of the press, and after a preset number, a circuit is completed to energize a solenoid 23, Fig. 3. This causes the plunger of the solenoid to move a peg 24 and rotate the part 22 against the action of a spring unit 27. The teeth of member 36 and part 22 are thus brought into abutment so that the reciprocatory motion of the member 36 is transmitted to the blade 16 which cooperates with a stationary blade 14 to cut material fed from the press.
