Abstract

1354955 Forging press CSAVARIPARI VALLALAT 8 Nov 1971 [11 Nov 1970 9 July 1971] 51705/71 Heading B3H A forging press for producing small bolts comprises a wire feed device 12, a disc cutter 16 and a forging station composed of a ram 4 with three forming tools 5, 6a, 6b and an oscillating head 7 with a pair of dies 8a, 8b, Fig. 2a. The central tool 5. is a preforming tool and cooperates with one of the dies 8a, 8b depending on which extreme position the head is in. The other tools 6a, 6b are heading tools which act alternately on preformed workpieces in one of the dies 8a, 8b. 'The cut-off wire is fed by grippers 20 to the forging station where it is held in one of the dies 8a, 8b. The feed device has a pair of cam rollers to intermittently feed the wire. The various parts of the press such as the feed rollers 1, 2, the disc cutter 16, the grippers 20 &c. are all cam operated and driven from the crank-shaft 2 which reciprocates the ram. The head 7 is oscillated through less than 45 degrees, preferably 30 degrees so that one of the dies 8a, 8b is aligned with the preforming tool 5. Each of the dies 8a, 8b has an ejector 21, 22, Fig. 3 (not shown), operated by cams 50, 51. In a second embodiment, Figs. 4-6 (not shown), the press has its dies, tools, cutter disc, grippers &c. duplicated so that the output of the press is doubled. The dies (8a), (8b), (8ax), (8bx) are arranged in pairs on opposite peripheries of a common head (7) and there are two preforming tools (5), (5x) and four heading tools (6a), (6b), (6ax), (6bx) on the ram 4.
