Abstract

258,007. French, G. F., French, R., and Pinch, W. H. June 11, 1925. Clip brackets, securing; curtains, suspending.-A. bracket for supporting a curtain rail is provided with one gripping jaw integral therewith and a second gripping jaw slidably adjustable thereon, means being provided whereby the bracket may be fixed to the wall and the jaws tightened on the rail simultaneously or independently. In the construction shown in Fig. 1 the bracket is formed by bending a strip of metal to form apertured attaching lugs a<8> and a jaw a', a second jaw a' formed at the end of a strip of metal a<5> slidably arranged on the horizontal part a<1> of the bracket being provided. The jaws are tightened on the rail by a screw a<6>. In a modification a long screw passes through the jaws and the rear part of the bracket so that the rail is gripped and the bracket secured in position on the wall &c. simultaneously. In the construction shown -n Fig. 6 the bracket comprises two telescopic members c<1>, c' of square tubing, each part having a gripping jaw c formed integral therewith. The part c<1> may have a stay portion c<4>. In a further construction the bracket is cut from a length of extruded or cast metal bar formed with a groove at its front edge to receive the rail which is retained in position by a metal plate slidably guided by the bracket and tightened on the rail by a set screw.
