The thread-laying fingers 54, 55 are mounted on an arm 61 pivoted on a shaft 62 mounted in a support S. The support S is adjustably secured by a screw G and slot H to a block A having a nib and groove connection with the head of the machine. The adjustment of the support S by the screw and slot G, H effects the necessary variation of the position of the pivot point of the thread-laying fingers. A threadguide for the covering thread is mounted on the support S and comprises a spring-stressed rod carrying thread-eyes M and slidable in a sleeve J.
