Abstract

338,445. Cook & Co. Manchester, Ltd., and Towlson, H. J. Jan. 29, 1930. Clearing-apparatus.-Provision is made in a yarn clearer of the type having a pivoted plate carrying a comb adjustable to a rod or bar, over which the yarn passes, for fine adjustment of the comb, means being provided for guiding the yarn back into working position when it has been pieced, without allowing it to encounter projecting parts of the device. The mounting plate 4, Figs. 1 and 2, is clamped on the rod 5 by means of the screw 6 and carries a rod 7 over which the yarn passes. The pivoted plate 9 has slidably mounted on it a comb 10, a milled head screw 11 being provided for adjusting the gap between the comb and the bar, and a clamping screw 13 for securing the comb in position. The top edge of the pivoted plate 9 is shaped as shown, and this in conjunction with the guide 15 serves to guide a yam back into its working position when it has been necessary to piece it, and prevents it from coming into contact with the pivot at the back of the plate.
