Abstract

330,260. Wood, A., and Wood, G. March 4, 1929. Addition to 224,943. Feeding webs. - In a web-guiding device as described in the parent Specification, the guiding rollers at each side of the web are mounted together on a head which is angularly adjustable on a supporting bracket to vary the angle between the rollers and the edge of the web. Each pair of guiding rollers k, m, Fig. 3, is carried by a bracket a slidable on a guide rail b, Figs. 1 and 3, and provided with a boss a' through which a screwed rod c freely passes. The engagement of the boss with the rod c is effected by means of a plate d pivoted at one end and held in engagement with the screw by a removable pin f. Secured to a face plate a<2> on the bracket a and angularly adjustable thereon by a screw i and slot i<1> is a plate h carrying the shaft of the roller k and also a pillar h<2> to which is pivoted an arm l carrying the other roller m. The shaft of the roller m is secured by a nut in a slot formed in a square lug projecting from the arm l and guided in a projection j from the plate h. The rollers are urged apart by a spring and drawn together under the control of a feeler by electromagnets secured to the plate h co-operating with an armature o formed with or secured to the arm l.
