Abstract

256,845. Bube, K. Dec. 22, 1925. Materials and compositions for making gas and other products. - Bituminous materials are mixed with liquid hydrocarbons to form a pulp which is pumped continuously through pressure resistant vessels heated to 300‹ C. or over, the liquid, solid, and gaseous products being withdrawn simultaneously through a common outlet at such a rate that the reaction vessels remain constantly filled to a required level. Solid residue after extraction with light oil, evaporation of absorbed solvent, and subsequent carbonization, is free from bituminous constituents and cannot be agglomerated under pressure. In an example, two parts of lignite arc mixed with one part of producer gas tar to form the pulp.
