Abstract
253,314. Holehouse, T. R. April 30, 1925. Firebars and grates.-A furnace grate formed of perforated transverse bars, preferably of the kind described in Specification 28643/10, adapted to form longitudinal channels for the delivery of air and steam to the fire, is provided, as shown in Figs. 1 and 4, with a special bar B<1> which serves to block some of the channels P in the bars B at the front portion of the grate so as to allow a limited supply of air to pass to the channels P<x> in the bars B<2> at the rear. Steam jets S deliver into nozzles N provided at the front of the bars B and channels N' are arranged beneath the nozzles to serve as openings for the removal of ash and admission of extra air.
