Abstract
252,748. British Thomson-Houston Co., Ltd., (Assignees of Stack, G. E.). June 1, 1925, [Convention date]. Electromagnetic switches; latching.-A switch comprising contacts 10, Fig. 1 closed by rotation of a shaft 11 is provided with an auxiliary contact 12 urged to the closed position when the contacts 10 are closed but prevented from closing by a stop 19 until the current in a coil 21 has decreased to a predetermined value. Rotation of the shaft 11 is communicated to a shaft 14 through a link 18 and causes compression of a spring 15, the stop 19 being retained in position by the combined action of the coil 21 and a spring 22. Adjustment for current in the coil 21 can be effected by nuts 16 or 24 and by placing a resistance in shunt or series with the coil 21.
