Abstract
606,840. Electrically-tripped switches. WILMOT-BREEDEN, Ltd., and LEWIS, F. V. Jan. 21, 1946, No. 1935. [Class 38 (v)] In a switch suitable for controlling vehicle direction-indicators, an electromagnet comprising a core b and coil d, is manually rotatable to either side of its normal central-position, so as to carry a contact f into engagement with contact-blades g, h, and be retained there by a spring-returned armature i having a projection k engageable with recesses in the bobbin c. The coil d is connected to the contact f, and through the core b to the blade-return-spring e. In Fig. 4 the switch is connected to the timing- device described in Specification 585,529, and comprising an over-centre contact-lever p, movable between bi-metal contact-strips n, so that when the electromagnet is rotated, circuits are closed through contacts g, h from a battery s to an indicator r, and through contacts f, g to the coil d through a heating-coil o. After a predetermined time, the contact-lever p is moved across the dead-centre, de-energizing the coil d and releasing the armature i before it engages the other strip n.
