Abstract
252,263. Watt, R. A. W. Dec. 3, 1924. Vacuum tubes.-Energy received on two or more directional aerials is applied to an indicator of the cathode-ray oscillograph type in such a way as to cause a deflection of the ionic stream directly and visibly related to the direction of the incident ether wave. As shown in the Figure two frame aerials N, S and E, Ware connected to corresponding deflecting plates n, s and e, w .arranged either outside or inside a cathode-ray tube, so as to apply two forces mutually at rightangles to the discharge stream passing through the tube. The resultant movement of the ionic stream may be used to control auxiliary apparatus by impinging upon additional electrodes inserted in the oscillograph tube.
