Abstract

Jacks.-To allow of an extended lift the nut c of the raising screw a of the jack is formed with a sleeve d engaging the upper end of the standard b. The lower end of the sleeve has means such as bevel teeth f so that it can be rotated by a bevel pinion g operated by a handle in the usual way. An additional adjustment in height is provided by the crutch p, Fig. 3, which has two load engaging faces s, t at right angles and at differing distances from the screwed studs q, r or other means by which the crutch is engaged with the screw in either of two positions. A bearing plate k may be provided on the top of the standard.
