Abstract
418,425. Derricks. MITCHELL, C., 2, Lixmount Avenue, Edinburgh. May 10, 1934, No. 14099. [Class 78 (iv).] A cargo derrick D, as shown, is provided with two topping lifts E, F led over pulleys on opposite ends of an upper derrick table A and passing to a deck anchorage and to a winch respectively, and the derrick heel is adjustable on a lower derrick table B to either side of the mast in order to control the bias on the derrick and to vary the outreach. The derrick heel may be traversed by screw-and-nut gear. Two notches H, L are provided. The derrick heel is moved to that side of the mast towards which the derrick is to be swung, the topping lift at that side is anchored, and the derrick is slued by the winch at the opposite side. The controls of the winches are at the inboard side for operation by one man.
