Abstract

247,728. Williams, G. H. Feb. 3, 1925. Hooks, sprinp, safety, and closed sister-hooks. - A pair of sister-hooks K, L, have recesses E around the pivot F in which a coiled spring R is arranged with its ends anchored in holes Y. The hooks are assembled in the open position and are closed against the action of the spring R. Stops H are provided on each hook over which the co-operating hook-member Z rides into the closed position when the hooks are assembled, and before the pivot F is secured. The hooks are operated from projections D and may be cast, forged, machined or stamped. In the case of stamped sheet metal, grooves are provided to accommodate the ends of the coiled spring R.
