Abstract
245,899. Steed, O., and Robertson, C. J. Dec. 2, 1924 Winding-machines; thread guides.-A machine for winding insulated wire upon bobbins of any cross-section comprises a guide lever 13, Fig. 1, adjustably pivoted on a slide 16, which can be adjusted in two directions at right angles. The lever is oscillated by a cam-operated plunger 12 and a spring to guide the wire on to a bobbin held in a chuck 2. The lever-operating cam 11 is mounted on a shaft, a crank pin on which engages a toothed. counter-wheel 17. The wire passes through an eye 20 on the lever to a jewelled guide-eye 21, which is mounted to slide in a hole in the lever and is attached thereto by a flat spring; as the diameter of the spool increases, so the wire raises the eve in the lever. In a modification, Fig. 7. the wire passes through an eye in a spring-controlled rod 23, Fig. 7, the downward movement of which is limited by an adjustable bracket 24<a>. The rod-eye may have an opening in the side thereof. The mechanism is mounted on frame-members 30, adjustably fixed to standards 26 by a bolt 27. The chuck 2, Fig. 5, is diametrically slotted so that a bar 5 on a disc 4 can be adjustably mounted therein by screws 6. A number of countersunk holes 7 are provided in the disc for securing the bobbin thereto.
