Abstract

Kettles; lids and covers. - A kettle, saucepan or other cooking vessel has a steam escape opening or series of perforations B formed either in the lid, Fig. 2, or, in the absence of a lid, in the upper part of the body portion, Fig. 4, the perforations being normally closed by a counterweighted hinged flap A lying within and in some cases detachably mounted upon an upstanding surrounding rim D. In the form shown in Fig. 4 a wire retaining device E pivotally secured to the handle F<1> is adapted to be engaged under the counterpoise A<1> to maintain the flap closed when desired.
