Abstract
244,753. Banner, O. A. Dec. 22, 1924, [Convention date]. Cylinders receiving liquid fuel. - Fuel is injected at or immediatelv before the end of the compression stroke into an elongated combustion chamber 18 communicating with the cylinder through a narrow passage 19, the fuel sprays being arranged to meet in a zone at one side of the passage 19. The fuel nozzles 21 are of the kind described in Specification 220,344. The outer portion b of the fuel mist produced, by the impact of the sprays is ignited by the heat of compression and vaporizes the rest of the fuel which, on the working stroke of the piston, is drawn through the passage 19 where it meets. and is burnt by, the air from the other side of the combustion chamber. The cylinder cover 13 is mounted on a water-cooled ring-like member 16 wherein is formed the combustion chamber.
