Abstract

Jet-wheels.-A turbine wheel 1 of spherical or other form is housed in a easily 6 of corresponding form and is provided with a number of vanes 2 which are packed by fluid-pressed strips 7 extending around the vane and down the sides of the rotor. The driving fluid which is admitted by a port 16 and exhausted by a port 17, or viceversa, is led to channels 9 behind the strips 7 by way of a pivoted valve 15 which opens a vane port 14 on the pressure side and seals the opposite port 14.
