Abstract
6471. Hagen, J., and Schmidt, F. P. April 30. Jet-wheels; reversing. -Steam is conveyed first to peripheral pockets and then discharged into side pockets in the same rotor, duplicate sets of pockets being provided for reversing. The casing is divided into two chambers 1, 2 by the rib 22 of the rotor 16, which is provided with peripheral pockets 25 and side pockets 20 for forward working, and oppositelyarranged peripheral pockets 26 and side pockets 21 for reverse working. The several rows of peripheral pockets are relatively staggered to facilitate starting. For forward driving, steam is admitted by ports 28 to the pockets 25, which discharge into a conduit 34 leading to a port 35 and the side pockets 20, which in turn exhaust into a conduit 37.
