Abstract
242,980. Koenemann, E. Nov. 14, 1924, [Convention date]. Heating by caustic soda and the like. - In a caustic soda or like boiler having a counter current preheater 10 between the vessel 2 in which the lye is diluted by injecting steam and the vessel 1 in which the lye is concentrated by external heating, the pressure of the lye is raised before it is returned to the evaporator above the pressure in the evaporator. Lye from the vessel 2 is forced by a pump 9 through the preheater and into the evaporator through a throttle valve 11. The concentrated lye flows from the evaporator to the vessel 2, through the preheater and throttle valve 14. Steam is taken off from the evaporator to operate an engine the exhaust from which is led into the vessel 2 through a nozzle 6. The heat liberated during dilution of the lye heats a boiler 7 from which steam is taken through a pipe 8.
