Abstract

241,706. Bowden, W. Oct. 16, 1924. Edges and selvages, treating. - A method of forming the fancy edging shown on fabric knitted from artificial silk consists in turning under the edge to form a hem and stitching it in a swinging needle sewing machine, successive stitches being made alternately within and without the outside edge of the hem. The tension of the sewing threads tends to draw the two rows of stitches towards each other as shown.
