240,197. Dawson, Sir A. T., and Buckham, Sir G. T. April 1, 1924. Field carriages; dismounting. - The forecarriage or limber B which supports the trail A<1> during transport is provided with a dismountable crane C for lifting the rear end of the trail on to the limber or for removing it therefrom. The crane also serves to move the trail spade from the firing position to the travelling position and vice versa. In the form shown, the crane comprises a rail D for the lifting tackle E and a tie-rod D', each pivoted to brackets C', C<2> on a vertical post C which enters a socket B' in the limber. For use with a gun carriage having divided trail beams, the crane comprises a rail D, tie-rod D<1>, and tackle E on each side of the post C.
