Abstract
236,762. Payntner, J. C. Sept. 8, 1924. Moulding wheel tyres.-Each of two halfmoulds 4, Fig. 3, is provided with an annular groove 10 for the reception of interchangeable segmental sections 11 which can be arranged in predetermined orders to form identification characters. The sections 11 are held in place by rings 12 which may be continuous or in segments, and have outer portions 13 fitting in annular grooves formed at the edges of the members 4 and inner portions 14 extending inwardly and overlying the edges of the sections 11. The rings 12 are detachably secured to the member 4 by screws 15 and their inner surfaces 16 coincide with the deepest surfaces of the cavities in the sections 11 so as to form the highest portion of the tyre tread. The carcase-receiving annular chamber is formed by grooves in the members 4, the latter being secured by bolts 7 extending through notches 8 in flanges 9 of the said members. The inner edges of the tyre carcase are held together by two detachable rings 19. Each segmental section 11, Fig. 6. has in addition to its central tread-forming cavity, an end cavity.
