Abstract

236,257. Smith, G. A. Dec. 5, 1924. Kinematograph apparatus. - In projection apparatus in which optical compensation for continuous film movement is effected bv an oscillated mirror and the light beam illuminating the film is caused to oscillate so as to move with each image, the oscillating beam is astigmatic. As shown in Fig. 1 a concave mirror d, inclined with respect to the beam of light thrown on to it by a lamp a, reflector b, and condenser c, is oscillated about a pivot d' so as to illuminate an image on a paper band e fed continuously through a two-picture gate g. The illuminated image is projected by an objective j and oscillating mirror i, a rotating shutter k being provided to cut off the projection beam during the return movements of the mirrors. The parts are operated by a motor-driven shaft l, Fig. 2, connected by gears m<1>, m<2> to the shutter shaft K. The wheel m<2> is formed with a cam groove n operating through a roller o, link s, and levers p, r, and in conjunction with springs q, t to oscillate the shafts i, d, carrying the mirrors, the return movements being effected quickly. The shaft F of the feed sprocket is operated from the shaft K by gears F' - - F<4>.
