Abstract
362,789. Optical - projection apparatus. PRESTON TYRE RERUBBERING CO., Ltd. and TOWERS, J. A., 72A, Friargate, Preston, and NEUSTADT, E., 228, Kurfurstendamm, Berlin. March 3, 1931, No. 6576. [Class 97 (i).] An optical projection-apparatus of the kind having movable lens systems adapted to enable the degree of magnification to be varied during the operation of the apparatus, whilst maintaining the image in focus, is characterized in that the movable lens systems are actuated automatically by mechanism adapted when driven continuously in one direction to move the lens systems repeatedly towards and from one another and the projection screen. As shown, the projection apparatus comprises a lamp 2, a condenser 3, and a transparency 4 projected on the screen 7 through the pair of lenses or lens systems 5, 6 displaceably mounted on the pillars 8, 9 respectively. The lens 5 is reciprocated by the co-operation of the roller 12, depending from the arm 14, carrying the lens 5, with the cam 10, the portion 10<1> of which is equidistant at all points from the axis. The lens 6 is reciprocated by the tension member 11 attached to the pulley 16 which is connected to a pinion 18 engaged alternately by the toothed segments 19, 20 operated by belts or chains from the shaft of the cam 10. The pulley 16 is provided with a friction brake 17.
