Abstract

236,127. Hygienic Installation Co., Ltd., and Hopkins, E. C. Feb. 9, 1925. Couplings, disconnectible; with yielding outer parts compressed.-Two tubes b, c are jointed by means of a rubber &c. sleeve a, adapted to embrace closely the adjacent end portions of the tubes, the sleeve a being provided internally with means, such as annular rib a<1>, so as to prevent the ends of said tubes coming into contact with one another, and in such manner as to avoid the formation of a pocket or cavity within the joint. The tubes abut opposite sides of the rib a<1>, and the internal diameters of the rib and pipes are the same. The ends of the tubes may be provided with annular extensions b<2>, c<2> adapted to coact with recesses in the sleeve, while the sleeve may be clamped on the tubes by clips d, d<1>, arranged in grooves in the sleeve, or by a tightly fitting ring f, Fig. 2, having a roughened or screw-threaded internal surface. The invention is also applicable to tubes of different diameters. Specification 236,764, [Class 102 (i), Pumps &c.], is referred to.
