Abstract
234,970. Green, A. W., Green, J. R., and French, P. May 5, 1924. Weft-inserters not carrying bobbins, cops, and the like, looms with.-The weft or wefts 29 are inserted in loop form by one or more rods or tubes 28 or pairs thereof connected to a sleeve &c. A reciprocated on one or more bars &c. 52. Each weft passes from a reel 34 over rollers C, C', one of which can be braked to tension the thread, then around one or more rollers D or eyes on the rod &c. 28 to a roller 31 or eye &c. on an arm B pivoted to the rod &c. After passing across the fabric E, the arms B strike and open spring-controlled pivoted gates M, Fig. 4, normally bearing on the curved nose ends F of selvedge shuttles provided with projections G, H engaging recesses in a casing J. The weft loops are thereby passed around the selvedge shuttles, the arms B straightening out on the return journey of the rods &c. 28, and the weft threads 29 being pulled up against the gates M and riding over them. The selvedge threads emanating from the ends 43 of the selvedge shuttles retain the loops of weft at the selvedge. Specification 168,444 is referred to.
