Abstract

Blowpipe burners. - The supply of cutting oxygen to a. burner is controlled by a valve operated by means of thumb-pieces k, k' on a spindle i by the hand gripping the burner handle m. The spindle : i carries a cam or eccentric c engaging a bent lever b which carries a screw n engaging the valve spindle a. The spindle a slides loosely in a sleeve d in the valve casing and is pressed upwardly by a spring g. When depressed by pressure on the thumb-piece k the valve closes against a valve seating on the oxygen passage, and when raised by pressure on the thumb-piece k<1> the valve presses against a rubber washer f arranged below the sleeve d, and thereby prevents the escape of oxygen around the spindle a. In place of the thumbpieces the spindle i may be fitted with a. member bent so as, to lie over the handle m so as to be operable by the ball of the hand gripping the handle..
