Abstract

230,586. Brettell, W. G., and Adamson, A. J. Jan. 16, 1924. Refrigerating, compression machines for.-The liquefied gas after leaving the condenser 1 is further cooled in a concentric-tube interchanger 3 by some of the brine that is cooled in the evaporator 2 of the plant, and passes under the full condenser pressure to the expansion valve 15. The interchanger may comprise lengths of double tube 16 connected by bends 13 and branches 17, or lengths of triple concentric tube. The brine for the interchanger is preferably taken from the header 7 supplying the brine circuits of the refrigerating-chambers, and returns to a tank or header 8. The brine circulation is effected by a pump 4. The interchanger 3 may be placed in a brine tank. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specificafions 11177/96, 118,866, and 190,615.
