Abstract
229,498. Farrar, J., and Whitehead, A. R. March 5, 1924. Hank type.-Apparatus for dyeing hanks comprises a frame with transverse bars carrying the hanks, the frame being adapted to be moved up and down in the vat by cam mechanism so as to produce variations in the dyeing effect on the hanks. The frame A is provided with hank-carrying bars a and has metal plates a<9> at its ends which are adapted to rest, when the frame is lowered, on cams a<2> mounted on transverse shafts connected by chain and sprocket gearing a<7>. The gearing is suitably rotated so that the cams produce a vertical up- and-down movement of the frame and hanks, the hanks thus being immersed in the dye liquor to a variable extent and dyed to a variable amount. When the parts of the hanks under treatment are sufficiently dyed fresh portions are brought under treatment by rotating the hank-carrying bars.
