229,351. Two-Tone Corporation, (Assignees of Mijer, P.). Feb. 14, 1924, [Convention date]. Coating-machines.-A process of coating textile fabrics and other articles consists in atomizing the coating matter in a gaseous medium and in conveying the medium with the coating matter away from its origin to a sufficient extent to eliminate drops and to expand the pressure of the medium, and not till then causing the resultant cloud of coating medium to make contact with the fabric or other article. In the arrangement shown, the material to be treated,. for example, a silk fabric 12, is secured to a table 11 above the level of the floor of a chamber 13, and to the side of the table 11, but separated from it by a partition 17, is placed a spray-producer such as an air-brush 14, the spray from which is directed horizontally; the spray is directed upwardly by deflectors 24 and passes over the partition 17 in the form of a cloud of fine particles since all the larger droplets have fallen into an elongated trough 19 arranged beneath the spray-producer 14. The cloud descends on to the material 12, being guided by deflectors 21 arranged at the corners of the chamber 13. Pattern enecte are produced by means of a stencil 16 placed on the material.
