Abstract

1 - Phenylamino - 4 - aminoanthraquinone-3-sulphonic acid is prepared for use in dyeing cellulose esters by reaction between aniline and a 1-halogen-4-aminoanthraquinone-3-sulphonic acid in accordance with the process described in Specification 10378/14.ALSO:Cellulose esters, such as acetate silk, are dyed violet to blue shades by means of monosulphonated 1 : 4-diaminoanthraquinone or 1 : 4-aminooxyanthraquinone, or an alkyl, or aryl derivative thereof, having the sulpho group in 2- or 3-position; 1 : 4-diaminoanthraquinone-3-sulphonic acid, 1-oxy-4-aminoanthraquinone-2-sulphonic acid, 1-phenylamino-4-aminoanthraquinone-3-sulphonic acid (obtainable by reaction between aniline and 1-halogen-4-aminoanthraquinone-3-sulphonic acid as in Specification 10378/14, [Class 2 (iii), Dyes &c.]), are specified as suitable; salts, acids, or protective colloids may be added to the dye-bath. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) includes also dyeing with aralkyl derivatives of the above aminoanthraquinone sulphonic acids, and in addition specifies 1-phenylamino - 4-amino-7-chloranthraquinone-3-sulphonic acid as a suitable body. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
