Abstract
The process of the parent Specification for the production of combined shades of azo- and vat-dyestuffs on the fibre is modified as follows: the goods are impregnated or printed with an arylide of 2 : 3-oxynaphthoic acid, or with diacylacetyl aromatic diamines or monoacylacetyl aromatic amines such as are described in Specifications 211,772 and 211,814, and then developed with a diazo solution, there being present in one of the baths an ethereal salt of a leuco-vat-dyestuff; they are finally treated with an acid oxidizing agent. According to examples (1) cotton goods are padded with 2 : 3-oxynaphthoic-m-nitranilide, printed with a mixture of diazotized 4-nitro-2-anisidine, and sulphate of leuco indigo, and developed with acidified iron nitrate; (2) goods are prepared with diacetoacetyl-o-tolidine, padded with a mixture of diazotized 2 : 5-dichloraniline and sulphate of leuco-indigo, and the colour developed as in (1); (3) goods are printed with a mixture of 2 : 3-oxynaphthoic-m-nitranilide and sulphate of leuco-indigo, printed or padded with diazotized 2 : 5-dichloraniline and developed as before; (4) goods are printed with diacetoacetyl-o-tolidine and sulphate of leuco-indigo, printed or padded with diazotized 4-nitro-2-anisidine, and developed as before: dark-violet, green, and brown shades are obtained. Soluble leuco derivatives of halogenated indigos, thioindigo, or other vat dyestuffs may also be used.
