Frictionally-seated lids and covers.-In a tin box or other container having a lid provided with a tight-fitting flange, a small locality of the flange is pressed outwards to form between the top and bottom of the flange a ring of stressed material which holds the lid on the neck of the container. As shown, a lid c having an integral flange c' is provided with two diametrically opposite hemispherical projections d, d<1>, pressure on which releases the hold of the ring e of stressed material and permits removal of the lid from the receptacle a.
