Alarms operated by ex. pansion of gases.-In an electric fire-alarm, of the type in which the expansion of air in a closed chamber 1 deflects a diaphragm in a socket 3, thus actuating, through a toothed quadrant and pinion, a pointer 10 to close an electric circuit, the alarm is given at any predetermined temperature by means of a second pointer 15, which is set at the required graduation and is provided with a contact to co-operate with a contact on the pointer 10. A rod resting on the diaphragm transmits movement to the toothed gearing.
