Abstract

227,405. Urbain, E. Jan. 9, 1924, [Convention date]. Addition to 218,974. Gases, separating mixtures of.-Relates to a modification of the process described in the parent Specification for the selective absorption of gases &c., by means of highly absorptive solid material, and consists in removing the absorbed gases from the absorptive material and regenerating the latter by passing steam directly therethrough whilst heating it indirectly to a temperature which prevents condensation. The apparatus described in the parent Specification is modified and comprises a coiled pipe 3 for heating and cooling purposes, steam being introduced through a pipe F external to the coil. The absorptive material is supported on a porous support 2 and surrounds the coils 3.
