Abstract
224,503. Bemberg Akt.-Ges., J. P. Nov. 5, 1923, [Convention date]. Apparatus for making filaments.-In the spinning of artificial silk from cuprammonia cellulose solutions by the stretchspinning method, the filaments are fi r s t treated with a countercurrent of the coagulating-liquid until sufliciently set, and are then subjected to a current of liquid moving in the same direction as the filaments. For this purpose the coagulating-liquid is introduced through a connection a at the lower part of the funnel c, at which point the stream of liquid divides into a slowly-moving upward current and a rapid downward current, that is a current in the direction of travel of the filaments. The liquid passing up the funnel c, Fig. 1, flows over the edge and escapes through a controlled outlet s; by this arrangement there is a quiescent column of liquid immediately below the spinning-nozzle b; alternatively, the liquid may be allowed to escape at an outlet. d at the upper part of the enclosing cylinder e, Fig. 1, and in this case the outer vessel e may be dispersed with, the funnel c being continued as a cylindrical upper portion f as shown in Fig. 2.
