Abstract
222,607. Wrightson, S. S. July 28, 1923. Stretcher bars are formed with a spigot and socket joint allowing lateral but not vertical movement. A bracket B secured to the point tongue has a vertical socket SK engaged by a spigot S on the other bar CR, the neck of the spigot being narrower than the slot in the socket. The joint members may be cylindrical or conical, and in the latter case the spigot will drop deeper into the socket to take up wear in the joint. The socket may have a base and the spigot may have a head or cap to protect the joint. The joint may be secured by forming the spigot with a screwed end for a nut or a collar or extension for a cotter pin, or a split pin may be passed through the spigot and socket.
