Frictionally seated lids and covers. - In s miners' electric lamp, the cover 6 of the cylindrical battery cell 1 is provided with a flange 8 which, on applying the cover, slides tightly within an internal band 10 on the cell until it engages the lower edge of the band. A rubber or like packing-ring 12 is fitted between the flange 8 and an outer rim 7 on the cover, which slides over the outside of the cell. The flange 8 may have a bevelled bead 9 which snaps beneath the bevelled edge of the band 10. In order to remove the cover, the cell is forced downwards between apair of prongs or within an aperture in a. projecting plate, the width of the aperture being intermediate between the diameters of the cell and cover.
