Electric-lamp lanterns and casings ; lamps for concentrating light on definite spot near the lamp- An incandescent electric lamp comprises a spiral, preferably carbon, filament 1, arranged around one focus F<1> of an ellipsoidal reflector, so that a considerable portion of rays may concentrate substantiallv at the second focus, which is in front of the bulb. The filament 1 is arranged so that the larger part is between the two foci and it may be cylindrical or conical, the apex of the cone being arranged a little beyond the focus F<1> towards the vertix of the reflector. The rear portion 9 of the lamp casing 5 is made of gauze or perforative sheet metal and the front portion of metal or of frosted glass, with an opening 6 for the passage of the concentrated rays. A reflecting-cone 8 may be provided. The neck 12 of the casing 5 is secured by screws 15 in a tube 13, which is inserted in a handle 14 and the parts are fixed in adjusted position by soldering or by plaster, the lamp socket being screwed into a tube 16. The filament 1 is connected to electric leads by the tube 16, a contact 12 and a switch 19. Examples of the distance between the vertix and first focus and between the two foci of the reflector are given. The Specification, as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) states also that the casing 5 may be made in three parts and provided with a focusing-lens. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
