Abstract
220,271. Kruger, M., and Unkel, S. R. Aug. 6, 1923, [Convention date]. Washing - apparatus with screens; wet separating.- Crude salt is purified by washing in counter-current with water or dilute or saturated brine in a rotary drum, the used wash liquor being filtered and returned to the process, but a portion is taken off and the quantity made up by fresh liquor. The fresh liquor is caused to act on the partly purified salt, the filtered used solution being used for treating the crude salt. The apparatus employed consists of a rotary drum e containing coaxial perforated drums or sieves b, c, d. The salt is fed in at a and after passing successively through the sieves reaches the bottom of the drum e from which it is lifted by scoops f and discharged at g. The filtered used liquor may be supplied at d and the fresh liquor at h. Specifications 9294/93 and 144,022 are referred to.
