Abstract
219,555. Webb, J. F. Jan. 22, 1923. Track apparatus for stopping trains.-A brake valve opened by means of a plunger coacting with a track ramp as disclosed in Specifications 145,580 and 219,345 may be reset by the driver operating a resetting valve 34 to supply air under pressure to a cylinder 29 through a governor 37 controlled by the reduction of air pressure in the brake pipe 4 so that the brake-valve can only be closed after a predetermined reduction of brakepipe pressure. The governor 37 may include a piston subjected on one side to brake pipe pressure aided by a spring and on the other side to reservoir pressure when the valve 34 is opened. Alternatively a differential piston subjected on opposite sides to these air pressures is adopted. In either case, when the brake pipe pressure is reduced by a predetermined amount, the piston moves to connect conduits 35, 33 to supply air to the cylinder 29, the piston of which presses against the brake valve lever 16 to close the brake valve.
