Abstract
218,647. Soc. Anon. Commentry, Fourchambault, et Decazeville. July 3, 1923, [Convention date]. Pulverulent-fuel burners.-An apparatus for feeding powdered fuel to blast furnaces comprises a double-threaded screw V operating within a water-cooled tube arranged concentrically in the tuyere nozzle and extending nearly to the mouth thereof. The screw is supported at its outer end in a long ball bearing, and is driven through reduction gearing by a motor M. In a modification the feed-screw conduit is formed in the tuyere casing. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) also includes a description of the feed hopper arrangements described in Specification 229,682, and states that the screw V may be replaced by a reciprocating or an air blast feeder. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
