Abstract

217,530. Timpson, F. M., and Robertson, A. O. Feb. 7, 1924. Safety-valves. - A combined pressure and vacuum relief valve of the kind in which one valve member seats on the other, has the pressure valve weight loaded and the vacuum valve loaded by a spring. The pressure valve 6 cooperates with a seat 11 formed on the casing A and is guided by a tubular spindle 22 engaging a plate 16 screwed to the top of the casing. A plate G adapted to receive loading weights rests on the end of the spindle 22 and has projections adapted to pass through slots F in a guide column E formed on the plate 16, The vacuum relief valve is carried by a spindle 9 guided by the column E and loaded by a spring 28 arranged between a ported thimble 2 resting on the plate G and lock nuts 25, 26 secured to the valve spindle. A protecting baffle I is clamped against the top of the casing by a cover 18 screwed to a stepped part D<1> on the plate 16. Lugs B are formed on the casing to prevent the vacuum valve member falling out of the casing when its loading spring is removed. Specifications 100,928 and 140,730 are referred to.
