Hasp locks and fastenings; hook fastenings.- A fastening, for bags &c. comprises a hasp member 1 on one part adapted to be passed through a peripheral slot 12 in a cupped retaining member 6 to engage over a ledge 19 in one of the upturned flanges 10 of an attachment plate 7 secured to the other part of the bag, the hasp being finally secured by rotation of the member 6 which is. secured to the plate 7 by a rivet 14 and has its base spaced above the plate 7 by a distance-piece 15. The retaining member instead of being slotted as shown may be formed as a quadrant. The member 6, which may be provided with one or more integrally formed handles 13, is indented at 17 to form projections adapted to co-operate with a projection 18 on one of the flanges 10 to limit the movement of the member 6. The hasp 1 may be pivotally attached to a plate 3, Fig. 1, by passing its end through a slot 4 and then bending the end over. In a modified construction the member 1 is rigidly secured to the bag and is bent upwardly and then downwardly at its engaging end, the flange of the member 6 engaging on rotation at the back of the upwardlybent portion. In the modified construction, Figs. 8 and 9 a key-operated locking bolt 36 is mounted between the attachment plate 27 and a, second plate 35, the portion 43 of the bolt being adapted to be moved into the path of a projection 41 provided on a downwardly-extending flange of the retaining member 25 and moving in an arcuate slot in the plate 27. The member 25 is prevented from being moved out of its locked position by excessive force by a projection 44 pressed up out of the plate 35 and adapted to contact with the underside of the portion 43 of the bolt when in its locking position to prevent the latter being forced downwardly.
